Job Summary:
The Senior Contracts Engineer manages contractual and commercial responsibilities for oil and gas and engineering construction projects. The role covers contract preparation, drafting, negotiation, administration, claims management and contractual risk assessment. The successful candidate will independently manage complex contractual matters and protect the company’s contractual and commercial interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepare, draft, review, and negotiate project contracts, subcontracts, service agreements, supply contracts, and contractual amendments.
· Manage contractual and commercial matters during tendering, contract award, execution, and closeout.
· Review tender conditions, scopes of work, contractual obligations, and risk allocation.
· Administer contracts, work orders, service orders, and contractual changes.
· Prepare, substantiate, evaluate, and negotiate contractual and financial claims.
· Manage variations, change orders, and Extension of Time (EOT) submissions.
· Assess and manage contractual risks, liabilities, guarantees, warranties, liquidated damages, contractual penalties, and contractual entitlements.
· Monitor payment provisions, retention, performance securities, and outstanding contractual payments.
· Prepare contractual notices, formal correspondence, and contractual position papers.
· Support contractual negotiations, dispute resolution, and commercial settlements.
· Coordinate with project management, engineering, procurement, and finance departments.
· Manage contractual closeout, final accounts, and settlement documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
· Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in contracts engineering and management.
· Fluency in Arabic & English Languages
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
· Proven experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, or major engineering and construction projects.
· Demonstrated expertise in independently drafting, negotiating, and administering contracts.
· Strong practical experience in claims, variations, change orders, and EOT.
· Sound knowledge of FIDIC conditions and oil and gas contractual frameworks.
· Previous experience in Iraq's oil and gas sector, preferably in Basra oilfields.
· Strong contractual analysis, negotiation, and commercial risk management skills.
Working Conditions & Benefit Package:

· Salary and Benefits: 4000-5000 USD per month
