ABOUT HÁWAR.help
HÁWAR.help e. V. is a human rights organization founded on the ashes of the Yazidi genocide. We raise our voice when human rights crimes are committed. Today, we implement development and education programs in Iraq, Syria and Germany, as well as international awareness-raising and education initiatives and political work.
Our projects are always designed and implemented on a multi-ethnic and multi-religious basis. With HÁWAR.help, we bring people into dialogue with each other and open up spaces for exchange through our projects, rallies and discussion events – locally and digitally, both nationally and internationally. Our human rights association stands for the effort to create a world in which every person, regardless of gender, ethnicity or faith, can develop in a self-determined and safe manner. Together, we are shaping a future characterized by humanity, solidarity, gender equality and compassion.

About the role
HÁWAR.help is seeking a Thematic Expert to deliver interactive leadership sessions for twenty girls and young women aged approximately 15 to 18 within the Scoring Girls project in Duhok, which promotes the participation, safety and empowerment of girls and young women through sports, awareness and psychosocial activities. The Thematic Expert will prepare participants to design, plan and lead their own community initiatives, and will facilitate a joint exchange day bringing all three groups together.

Key responsibilities
●        Deliver interactive sessions on leadership and communication; public speaking and confidence; the prevention of gender-based violence and advocacy; and the design and planning of a community initiative.
●        Deliver each session to two groups — the combined Duhok and Sharya participants at Sharya, and the Qadiya participants at Qadiya.
●        Facilitate a joint exchange day bringing all three groups together to develop and finalise their community initiatives, with implementation plans and budgets.
●        Adapt session content to the age, literacy level and context of the participants.
●        Coordinate with the specialised protection staff on the session covering gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence.
●        Provide a short written record after each session, and coordinate scheduling, venue and materials with the Facilitator Officer.

Essential qualifications and experience
●        Female candidate. This is a genuine occupational requirement for this role, not a preference.
●        Demonstrated experience facilitating leadership, life skills or advocacy training with adolescents or young women.
●        Fluent in Kurdish
●        Experience working in camp settings or with displaced communities in the Kurdistan Region.
●        An interactive facilitation style suited to adolescent girls — discussion and group work rather than lectures.
●        Commitment to safeguarding, PSEA and the safe, dignified participation of girls and young women.
●        Available for all sessions across October and November 2026.

Desirable
●        Background in gender equality, the prevention of gender-based violence, or women's rights.
●        Experience supporting young people to design and run community activities.
●        Working knowledge of English.

How to apply
Please send a CV of no more than three pages, together with a one-page statement describing how you would deliver one of the sessions listed above and your experience working with this group, and the contact details of two references from similar work.
Application deadline: 21/09/2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to deliver a short demonstration session.

Fee
The fee will be discussed and agreed at a later stage of the selection process. HÁWAR.help provides transport to and from every session in organisational vehicles, together with the venue, materials and refreshments.

Equal opportunity and safeguarding
HÁWAR.help is an equal-opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all qualified female candidates regardless of background. This position is open to female candidates only. The role involves direct, sustained contact with adolescent girls aged approximately 15 to 18 in a setting where facilitation by a woman is necessary for their participation, safety and comfort. This is treated as a genuine occupational requirement and not as a preference.
HÁWAR.help is committed to safeguarding and to the protection of the people it serves. The successful candidate will be expected to adhere to the organisation's Code of Conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy and PSEA Policy, and to attend a safeguarding briefing with the designated focal point before delivering any session. References and background checks apply.
