Position Summary

The Drilling Supervisor is responsible for the implementation of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) policies, including emergency response and security procedures. The role provides onsite management of well operations, including logistics and operational support, while coordinating with the drilling contractor, service companies, and Erbil office. The position is responsible for supervising onsite personnel and ensuring their safety and welfare, as well as maintaining and delivering accurate and timely operational reports.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Pre-spud Preparation & Readiness:

• Support mobilization and preparation of the drilling contractor and key service
• providers (MPD, cementing, logging, directional drilling, etc.)
• Ensure all contractors comply with company standards, procedures, and HSE Requirements.
• Participate in pre-spud planning, risk assessments, and operational readiness Reviews.
• Assist in reviewing drilling programs, procedures, and well execution plans.

Materials Management, QA/QC & Inspection

• Oversee receipt, verification, and inspection of critical drilling materials, including:

- Casing and tubing

- Wellheads and Christmas Trees

- Completion equipment and accessories

• Ensure compliance with technical specifications, certifications, and QA/QC requirements
• Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure:

- Proper storage and preservation

- Material traceability and documentation

- Raise and follow up on non-conformance reports (NCRs) where applicable

Contractor & Service Coordination

• Liaise with drilling and service contractors to ensure:

-Equipment readiness and certification

-Personnel competency and mobilization planning

• Monitor contractor performance and readiness against project schedule
• Support integration of specialized services such as:

-Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD)

-Cementing operations

-Well control equipment readiness

Wellsite Supervision

• Directing, motivating and developing individuals and the team.
• Execution of operations in accordance with the well program and good industry practices. Review current operations with SDSV

• Operational optimisation of the program.
• Review drillers instruction and work plan for next 12-24 hours. Check and verify if all equipment and personnel are on location for the upcoming 'work.

• Chair a brief operational meeting with night Toolpusher, mud engineer and any other service provider to review the plan forward for the night. Through this meeting capture any hurdles or roadblocks, assess what further support is required.

• Provide final quality control checks for any equipment that goes below the rotary table.

• Taking initiatives to promote safety awareness and ensuring the highest levels of safety and environmental performance are achieved.

• Concise accurate reporting of operations both verbally and written.
• Ensure to keep accurate time log during night shift and update daily drilling report and lookahead.

• Prepare all other documents as required for morning report submittal to office.
• Maintain and updating lessons learnt and forwarding to SDE in Erbil, completion of the risk assessment register.

• Preparation of critiques and post operations reports specific to a particular issue or problem.

• Input into the End of Well Reports.
• Obtain approval for any deviation to the agreed drilling programme

Outputs:

• A well drilled and completed in accordance with the program and in a safe efficient manner.
• Comprehensive Lessons Learnt database.
• Service Company job tickets verified.
• IADC reports checked and signed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Background in engineering or drilling at least 4-10 years varied experience covering drilling, completion and well testing.

• Significant experience in drilling operations and supervision.
• Experience with:

- Drilling rigs and well-site operations

- QA/QC and material inspection

- HP/HT wells and complex operations (preferred)

• Valid Well Control Certification (IWCF or IADC Supervisory level)
