Role Purpose
Drive profitable growth across import and export air freight operations by managing quotation requests received from the sales team and proactively generating new business. This role involves sourcing competitive rates from international agents, providing timely quotations to support shipment conversion, and expanding market opportunities through existing relationships, personal networks, customer databases, and active prospecting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage import and export air freight quotation requests received from the sales team, ensuring all shipment requirements and relevant details are complete and clear.
- Contact international agents and approved partners to obtain accurate and competitive rates for air freight opportunities worldwide.
- Prepare and provide timely quotations to the sales team, enabling them to respond to customers, negotiate effectively, and secure shipments.
- Follow up on submitted quotations with the sales team, agents, and relevant stakeholders to understand outcomes, improve conversion rates, and address rate or service concerns.
- Proactively generate new import and export air freight business through existing customer relationships, personal networks, available customer databases, and market prospecting.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers to secure new business, repeat shipments, and long-term revenue growth.
- Ensure that quotations, profit margins, and commercial terms align with approved company guidelines and profitability expectations.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of customer opportunities, quotation requests, rates, follow-up actions, outcomes, and secured business in approved reports and systems.
- Coordinate seamlessly with Sales, Operations, Finance, international agents, and other relevant stakeholders to support commercially viable quotations and smooth shipment handover and execution.
- Represent the company professionally while complying with all applicable commercial, operational, and ethical requirements.
Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
- University Graduate, preferably holding a degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- Good command of written and spoken English, with additional language capabilities considered an advantage.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in air freight sales, freight forwarding, pricing, business development, or a similar logistics role.
- Practical experience in handling both import and export air freight quotations and coordinating with international agents.
- Demonstrated experience in customer acquisition, relationship management, commercial negotiation, and sales target achievement.
- Proven ability to coordinate effectively with sales and operational teams to progress opportunities into executable shipments.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and approved sales, quotation, or freight-management tools.
- Strong knowledge of air freight import and export dynamics, rate sourcing, and quotation preparation.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, time management, and problem-solving skills under tight deadlines.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, ownership, and results orientation.
