Job Objective
The Senior Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality instrumentation and control engineering solutions for ADNOC offshore projects. The role supports detailed engineering activities within the Central Engineering Division, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant instrumentation systems in line with project specifications, ADNOC standards, and offshore execution requirements. The position plays a key role in coordinating across disciplines to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation and control systems within complex offshore facilities.
- Develop and review instrumentation and control engineering deliverables for offshore oil and gas facilities, including jackets, topsides, decks, modules, and support systems
- Prepare and review instrument index, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, specifications, installation details, hook-up drawings, and material requisitions
- Develop and review control system architecture, instrument location plans, cable schedules, termination diagrams, loop diagrams, and cause-and-effect charts
- Ensure all instrumentation designs comply with ADNOC standards, international codes, project specifications, and applicable safety requirements
- Coordinate closely with process, piping, mechanical, electrical, structural, telecom, and safety disciplines to ensure integrated and clash-free designs
- Review vendor documentation, technical bids, instrument data, and supplier drawings for compliance with project requirements
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL, LOPA, design reviews, 3D model reviews, and other technical workshops with stakeholders and clients
- Support the selection and specification of field instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, analyzers, fire and gas devices, and associated instrumentation systems
- Ensure appropriate consideration of hazardous area classification, offshore environmental conditions, maintainability, accessibility, and installation requirements
- Assist in resolving technical queries, site clarifications, design changes, and construction-related issues during project execution
- Review and approve engineering deliverables prepared by junior engineers and designers, ensuring technical accuracy and adherence to project standards
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior instrumentation engineers and designers
- Support procurement, fabrication, installation, commissioning, and start-up activities where required
- Ensure timely delivery of instrumentation engineering deliverables in line with project schedules and milestones
- Support interface management between engineering teams, vendors, offshore construction teams, and commissioning personnel.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering within the oil and gas industry
- Proven experience working on ADNOC offshore projects or similar Middle East offshore developments is highly preferred
- Strong experience in detailed design engineering for offshore oil and gas facilities, including topsides, jackets, modules, platforms, and brownfield modifications
- Extensive knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems, safety instrumented systems, fire and gas systems, and industrial communication networks
- Proficiency in engineering tools and platforms such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), AVEVA Instrumentation, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Navisworks, and related design and document management systems
- Sound understanding of international codes and standards, including ISA, IEC, API, NFPA, and relevant ADNOC engineering standards
- Experience with instrument sizing, control valve selection, shutdown systems, hazardous area requirements, and instrumentation installation practices
- Familiarity with SIL assessment, functional safety requirements, HAZOP, LOPA, and cause-and-effect development
- Strong coordination skills with multidisciplinary engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and clients
- Ability to work in a fast-paced EPC/EPCM/PMC environment on multi-billion-dollar offshore projects
- Good communication, technical reporting, and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience within a central engineering or shared services environment is an advantage.
