2. Project Background
Al-Mesalla Organization for
Human Resources Development is implementing "Strengthening Social
Cohesion, Community Recovery and Integrated Local Support Structures in
Ninewa" with GIZ Civil Peace Service (CPS) support in Mosul, Bashiqa,
Hamdaniya, Telkaif and Sinjar District (Ninewa Governorate). The project
supports the identification, strengthening, reactivation or, only where no
suitable mechanism exists, formation of locally grounded community peace
structures; delivers assessment-driven capacity development to structure
members; facilitates gender-sensitive community dialogue; and supports each
structure to update its conflict analysis and develop its own Community Peace
Action Plan.
3. Position Purpose
The Project Assistant provides
field-level coordination, mobilisation and logistical support to the project's
assessment, capacity-development and dialogue activities, with a geographic or
thematic focus assigned by the Project Manager.
4. Key Duties and Responsibilities
·
Support field coordination
and logistical preparation for assessments, capacity-development sessions and
community dialogues.
·
Mobilise community members
and structure representatives for scheduled activities, in coordination with
the Social Cohesion Officer.
·
Prepare and organise
venues, materials and attendance documentation for field activities.
·
Follow up with participants
and structure members between activities to support continuity of engagement.
·
Support documentation of
activities, including attendance sheets, session notes and photographs where
appropriate and consented.
·
Provide day-to-day
administrative and logistical support to the Project Manager and Social
Cohesion Officer.
5. Specific Project Responsibilities
·
Support logistical
preparation for the conflict/stakeholder assessment in assigned location(s).
·
Coordinate the mobilisation
of structure members for capacity-development sessions and the inter-committee
peer-learning activities.
·
Support logistical
preparation and participant follow-up for the gender-sensitive community
dialogues.
·
Support logistical
arrangements for structure meetings held during the Community Peace Action
Planning process, without substituting for the structure's own decision-making.
·
Maintain accurate
attendance and participation records disaggregated as required by the project's
monitoring framework.
6. Coordination Responsibilities
·
Coordinate daily with the
Project Manager and Social Cohesion Officer on field schedules.
·
Coordinate with Project
Assistant 2 to divide field coverage efficiently across the five locations.
·
Coordinate with the MEAL
Assistant on the collection and quality of attendance/participation data.
7. Documentation and Reporting Responsibilities
·
Maintain attendance sheets,
session logs and participant-follow-up records for all supported activities.
·
Submit field activity
summaries to the Project Manager on a regular basis.
8. Safeguarding, PSEA, Code of Conduct and Do No Harm
Responsibilities
The position holder is required
to comply fully with Al-Mesalla's Code of Conduct, Protection from Sexual
Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy, and Do No Harm principles at all times.
This includes completing all mandatory safeguarding training, reporting any
concerns through Al-Mesalla's Complaints and Feedback Response Mechanism
(CFRM), maintaining confidentiality of participant information, and observing
the boundaries of competence that apply to this role — in particular, not
diagnosing, assessing, or managing any protection or mental-health-related
case, and referring any such matter to the appropriate qualified channel rather
than acting on it directly.
9. Required Qualifications
·
Secondary education
required; a university degree or diploma in a relevant field is an advantage.
10. Required Professional Experience
·
Minimum 1-2 years of
experience in field-level project support, community mobilisation or logistics
with an NGO or similar organisation.
·
Familiarity with the local
context of the assigned target location(s) is an advantage.
11. Skills and Competencies
·
Strong organisational and
logistical skills.
·
Good interpersonal and
community-liaison skills.
·
Basic documentation and
record-keeping skills.
·
Willingness to travel
frequently within the target locations.
12. Languages
Fluency in Arabic required.
Working knowledge of English is an advantage; Kurdish is an asset for roles
with Ninewa Plains or Sinjar coverage.
